[9:56] Ozma Malibu: Point 2. The Spreadsheet. DJ I know you gave me your email address but could you give it to me again - also anyone interested in keeping up with mentors and mentoring.
[9:57] Ozma Malibu: We need a better way to get the names of mentees but MacZ has a good way: she introduces herself at meetings.

[9:59] Ozma Malibu: as the hope is that mentees will become mentors and they will be trained by having been mentored
[9:59] Ozma Malibu: exactly, MacZ. It is way important for actual new residents to have a mentor but we can start earlier than that.

[10:02] Ozma Malibu: Shadowing is truly the best but in combination with some sort of list.
[10:03] Ozma Malibu: Right now there are some resources on the wiki but they likely need updating. Rememember we can all update the wiki.
[10:03] Mimi Muircastle: a list of tasks/skills - very specific is helpful from my pov - thanks to MacZ
[10:03] MacZ Urbanowicz: so i'm making a list of things to cover: 1) purpose in SL 2) how to make an avatar profile 3) how to make a NPC profile
[10:03] MacZ Urbanowicz: 4) how to make a sign :)
[10:04] Ozma Malibu: Also I see the spreadsheet (going back to the spreadsheet for a minute) as a place to list EVERYONE who mentors anyone. I mean, a mentee will likely have more than one mentor.
[10:04] Ozma Malibu: that way we can look at the spreadsheet and see a brief history of a mentee and also get new ideas on mentoring
[10:04] Mimi Muircastle: the spreadsheet is fantastic and a great record, Ozma

[10:04] Ozma Malibu: MacZ you are doing such a great job on that. Here is what I have been thinking for further training that would fit with what you have.

[10:05] Ozma Malibu: We could have a self-paced moodle course that new mentors go through

[10:06] Ozma Malibu: then new mentees could go through the same or an alternate version
[10:06] Ozma Malibu: I have been practicing with moodle and think it might work but would need help on content
[10:06] Mimi Muircastle: that will speed up the training of new mentors!
[10:06] Ozma Malibu: I can come up with a six-unit course say but would need your help on the actual content
[10:06] MacZ Urbanowicz: there is training in-world for some things - see notecards

[10:07] Ozma Malibu: anyway the moodle might not be needed but I am all about organization and being able to find stuff so in the long run I think it could help us

[10:08] Mimi Muircastle: I like the idea of independent training - then no mentor prospect has to wait for the all volunteer army of exper. mentors to help - self taught is always good
[10:09] Ozma Malibu: the person who is running the server I am playing with set up sloodle for me but it does not quite work right at the moment
[10:09] Ozma Malibu: yes, and a mentee could also go through the course or a parallel course with a mentor
[10:10] Ozma Malibu: OK I will keep going with that one but MacZ, let's get to your list of mentees

[10:15] Ozma Malibu: I think 2 mentees per mentor would work well at tier 1 but that is up to the mentor. however in my experience, overworking mentors is not a good idea because, down the line, your mentee will need to contact you when the mentee starts mentoring other new mentees :-)
