March 16 – Join NPC at 8AM for Labor Tech panel at Virtual Ability – then VWBPE at 3PM

Join us this Friday, March 16th for Nonprofit Commons community Field Trips, starting off at 8 AM PT/SLT at Virtual Ability, Inc. and then on to NPC’s Virtual Worlds: Best Practices in Education presentation at 3PM PT/SLT!  

 

Instead of our normal Nonprofit Commons Friday Morning Meeting, we have a field trip March 16, 8-10 AM to Sojourner Auditorium, Virtual Ability for Labor Tech Discussion with Tom Boellstorff and Winifred Poster

Then enjoy all the #VWBPE Conference events including our NPCevolutions Panel at 3 PM PT/SLT

Understanding the General Data Protection Regulations for March 9th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Please join us this Friday, March 9th for a discussion on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which are EU laws going into effect in May, designed to make sure people have control over their personal information and what it is being used for. The laws cover how people are informed of how the data is used, how they consent to its use (or limit use), the right to “be forgotten”, to export their data, and to seek damages if they suffer from misuse or breach of their data.

NPC Brainstorm: using technology to connect people to the arts for the March 2 Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Join us Friday, March 2nd for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting will feature a brainstorm session on using technology to connect people to the arts. The Knight Foundation opened up a grant call last month looking for individuals and organizations to submit ideas on how technology can be used to connect people to the arts. For those selected, these ideas would be prototyped and shared.

Visualizing Vision and Open Forum for January 26 Nonprofit Commons meeting

Touring Community Virtual Library for the January 19th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

join us for the Friday, January 19th Nonprofit Commons in Second Life Meeting where Community Virtual Library President, Valerie Hill (Valibrarian Gregg in SL), takes us on a guided tour of the new Community Virtual Library location at Library Land on Cookie Island.

 

The Community Virtual Library (CVL) serves Second Life as an information commons HUB with catalogs of simulations and a network of communities. Come celebrate and learn how CVL can help you and your virtual world groups. At 8:30 AM, we will start at NPC Plush and start the tour at Cookie Island at 9:00 AM SLT.
