This Friday, October 14th, TechSoup’s NonProfit Commons in Second Life will feature Will Burns. Vice Chair IEEE Virtual Worlds Standards group who will discuss blueprints for the evolution of virtual worlds and the potential future of the Metaverse. This presentation will provide an overview of the history of virtual worlds and phases of development. Defining the “Metaverse” and a glimpse into the future of virtual worlds will include interoperability and other key elements of design.

This Friday, October 6th, TechSoup’s NonProfit Commons in Second Life will focus on October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As part of this, we will talk on ways to get involved and spread awareness. Susan Tenby (Glitteractica Cookie) will also share info on Caravan Studios’ SafeNight app, and update us on the Safe Shelter Collaborative brining together organizations working with survivors of domestic violence and trafficking.
