International Disability Rights Affirmation Conference for the Dec 1st Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Join us Friday, December 1st for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting featuring a field trip to Virtual Ability, Inc. and the International Disability Rights Affirmation Conference (IDRAC). The conference will take place December 1st and 2nd virtually in Second Life® at The Sojourner Auditorium on Virtual Ability. See you there!

This year’s theme is “Who Is Responsible?” This theme is broad and open to interpretation by the presenters we invited to this year’s event. If past conferences are any indication, we look forward to lively discussions and information sharing among presenters and the very interested and interactive audience.

Tapping the Innovation Potential in Live and Virtual Conferences for 11/18 Nonprofit Commons

Join us Friday, November 18th for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting, which will feature Kevin Feenan and Leticia De Leon of Rockcliffe who will review how the Erudition event was the first step towards a changing paradigm in technology conferences and proposes how the key traits of innovators of technology play an important role in that change.  While technology is a tool, the interactions with it and with people are what creates the power behind innovation.  Come and discover what you missed for Erudition and what you can look forward to in VWBPE.

Efficient Blogging with WordPress for the November 10th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Join us Friday, November 10th for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting, which will feature artist and Peninsula College faculty Renne Emiko Brock ( Zinnia Zauber in SL ) who will share with us how to easily set up and efficiently use WordPress. WordPress Blogs create an online presence quickly and affordable and enable you to focus on content instead of code. Learn the essentials of adding and editing posts and pages, assigning categories and tags, embedding images and content from sources like YouTube, and connecting to your social media streams. Renne will introduce using WordPress to develop a free blog. This blog can be exported in the future to become a WordPress website.

Cybersecurity Quiz & Discussion for the October 27th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

She will be presenting information and engaging you in a few short exercises designed to generate data that you wouldn’t acquire by thinking or talking alone. 9/29 NPC Meeting: Intro to Screen Capture and Live Streaming

Friday, September 29th Nonprofit Commons in Second Life meeting features Michael Bailey (Marcus Llewellyn in Second Life), who will present on how to screen capture and stream live. In this hands-on workshop, you will be walked through the steps of using free and open source tools and your computer to capture your screen or camera (whether for machinima or classroom instruction) and also how to stream live to YouTube.
