Superheroes’ Transformative Digital Storytelling for the Dec 7th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

On Friday, December 7, please join us for the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life meeting with a presentation by Renne Emiko Brock / Zinnia Zauber on “Superheroes’ Transformative Digital Storytelling” at 8:30 AM SLT!

It is about how to empower agency and reveal superhero skills with immersive lessons that activate educational transformations using storytelling techniques including reflective origins, challenging problems, and creative solutions to evolve students into exceptional mentors utilizing technology, art, and imagination.

Students are superheroes and education is an equity mutation. Virtual environments unlock their potential because anything is possible. We recognize the catalyst and hero’s journey that makes each student unique through positive persistence to persevere achievements beyond the classroom.

Dancoyote’s 12-Year Retrospective Exposition for November 16th Nonprofit Commons

Join us November 16th for the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life meeting, featuring David “DC” Spensley (DanCoyote Antonelli in Second Life) and a tour of his 12-Year Retrospective Exposition of interactive art, architecture, and performance in Second Life, hosted by the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA).

The artworks are grouped within themes explored over the years, and explore the question: What does an art practice “native” to virtual worlds look like? This theoretical construct is what DanCoyote calls Hyperformalism. The three main types of artwork in this exhibition include Interactive, Aesthetic, and Performative. Interactive works implicate the viewer into the piece, making them the artist. With aesthetic works attempt to conjure beauty within the virtual space. Performative works include documentation of live theatrical productions with as many as a dozen real-time ensemble performers.

The Exhibit closes on December 31st.

About DanCoyote Antonelli: The avatar DanCoyote Antonelli, as the proxy for David “DC” Spensley in the virtual world of Second Life, was derived from Cervantes’ Don Quixote, in honor of a coyote that Joseph Beuys lived with for a time at the René Block Gallery in New York during his 1974 action, “I like America and America Likes Me”. Apparently nobody realized how close Beuys and the coyote had become until DanCoyote was born.
